Meetings with Ms. Penland (3 hours & 15 min --> three rotation periods)
Meeting with Mr. Peebles (.5 hours)

Meeting with Mrs. Spencer (15 min)
Hours Total: 4.5 Hours
Mon, April 4
| 9:30-11:30 I went to Octane Coffee where I made progress on drafting my script. (2 hours) 12:00-1:30 I met with my project advisor, Ms. Penland. We discussed how I plan to use my time this week up until our next meeting. Ms. Penland and I also worked on researching because I have recently been advised by Mrs. Spencer that research should be a large component of my project in meeting I had with her. (1.5 hours) 5:00-7:30 I went back to Octane Coffee and continued researching before dinner. (2.5 hours)
Hours for Day: 6 Hours
|
Tues, April 5
| 11:30-12:00 I met with Mr. Alig to talk about my senior project. (.5 hours) 12:00-3:00 After my meeting, I stayed at school and printed out a few articles to continue my research. (3 hours) 4:30-6:00 When I got home, I made more progress on my script. (1.5 hour) 7:45-9:15 After dinner, I collected all the articles I had printed out and began condensing all the notes I have been making on these various sources so that I could begin putting together a bibliography for all my research. (1.5 hour)
Hours for Day: 6.5 Hours
|
Wed, April 6
| 8:00-9:30 I watched a few Suicide PSA's on Vimeo to get some ideas for my short film because I am realizing that some of the "awareness" aspects of my short film are beginning to develop many parallels to the style of a PSA. (1.5 hours) 12:00-1:30 I reached out to Ross Szabo, a man my mother recently heard speak about his past at SkyLand Trail, whom she thought could be a good resource for my project. I reached out to Ross through his website where I told him about my past, my interest in mental health, and my project. Ross has devoted his life to guiding younger generations, using his own story of when he tried to take his life to raise awareness and give hope to those struggling with their own mental health. (1.5 hours) 6:30-8:30 Made a lot of progress with my script and tonight. I have been journaling for years and I spent time looking back at old entrees to inspire parts of the script. I think it is very cool because this project is becoming more and more personal to me and my past experiences. (2 hours)
Hours for Day: 5 Hours
|
Thu, April 7
| 8:30-11:00 Worked on the screen writing (scene changes, transitions, etc). Since I have spent the first half of the week working on drafting my script and researching, I have been able to create a rough outline of the order of scenes in the film. With that, I am now working to also create a visual plan for my film. (2.5 hours) 4:00-6:30 I made major headway on drafting my script which is now close to being complete. Once I complete it, which I would like to have done by Monday, I will be turning my draft in for feedback . (2.5 hours)
Hours for Day: 5 Hours
|
Fri, April 8
| 8:30-11:30 I went to Octane and completed my first draft of my script. I am meeting with the main character, Benton Wood, over the weekend to give him the script to get feedback and discuss plans for the film. (3 hours)
4:00-6:30 I plan to try and produce my own background music for film because of my interest in music and to avoid having to get permission to use someone else's music. With that, I spent this time working to begin trying to write the piano music. (2.5 hours)
Hours for Day: 5.5 Hours |
WEEKEND/MAKE-UP HOURS? (4.5 hours)
Sat, April 9
11:00-12:00 I watched a few TEDtalks that were done by suicide survivors (example: https://www.ted.com/talks/jd_schramm#). This one touches on the process of moving forward from a failed suicide attempt and rise above the gripping depression that this suicide survivor was facing. (1 hour)
Hours for Day: 1 Hour

WEEK 2
Mon, Apr 11
| 10:00-11:00 Before I begin filming this week I need to go ahead and get my lighting equipment together. I had to go and buy a few new pieces of equipment because the equipment that I have needs new bulbs and a reflector. (1 hour) 12:00-1:30 Meeting with my project advisory, Ms. Penland, where we looked at my progress thus far and discussed this upcoming week and where I plan to be with my project by our next meeting, taking place next Tuesday. (1.5 hours) 3:00-5:30 Added new pages to my website so that way people could have a better sense of the research I have been spending so much time doing, where this research is coming from, as well as the film making process! (2.5 hours) Hours for Day: 5 Hours |
Tues, Apr 12
| 11:00-3:00 Condensed all my research and put it onto my research page that I created yesterday to allow people to see where I am getting my information and inspiration for my project. (4 hours) 5:30-7:00 Watched a short film, INSEPARABLE, that Benton shared with me that is completely unrelated to the topic of suicide, yet it telling the story of a man who finds out he has cancer. I noticed how the filmmaker used lighting to set the tone of the film and he chose to have the actors speak very little in the film. It is was a great example of how a filmmaker can speak without using words. I hope to achieve this with my film as well because I think it is much more powerful to make someone think and hint at a message versus just saying it blatantly. (1.5 hours) Hours for Day: 5.5 Hours |
Wed, Apr 13
| 10:00-11:00 Reached out to outside of school friends to find people to play small roles and extras in the last few scenes I will be doing at the end of this week. (1 hour) 1:00-2:30 Assigned people to scenes and roles. (1.5 hour) 4:00-5:00 Cordinated schedule for time and place for the various scenes after finding out everyone's availability. (1 hour) 6:30-8:00 Met with Benton to finalize script. (1.5 hour) 9:30-10:00 Gave directions on what clothes everyone should bring and how their role should appear. (.5 hours) Hours for Day: 5.5 Hours |
Thu, Apr 14
| 3:30-5:30 I started filming the ending scenes with the extras. (2 hours) 6:00-9:00 I continued filming and started the proceeding scene: the car scene. This is a scene where Benton is alone in the car and the a major shift in the mood of the film takes place. (3 hours) Hours for Day: 5 Hours |
Fri, Apr 15
| 10:00-12:30 I began editing. (2.5 hours) 4:15-6:45 I continued editing (2.5 hours) Hours for Day: 5 Hours |

Sat, April 16
5:00-8:30 Benton and I finished the first scene tonight. Majority of this scene takes place in the car. This was a particularly fun scene to film. I was out the widow for part of it which was not the safest thing but it got the job done! (3.5 hours)
Hours for Day: 3.5 Hours
Sun, April 17
10:00-12:00 Made a rough filming schedule for this upcoming week. (2 hours)
6:30-8:00 Got extras for the scenes I still needed extras in (reached out to my friends from other schools that are involved in the drama department). (1.5 hours)

| 9:00-9:30 Contacted Mr. Silverman and Mrs. Brackett to discuss some of the audio and editing aspects of my project and what I wanted their advice and assistance on. I was able to schedule separate meetings with both of them for later this week. (.5 hours) 10:00-11:30 Finalized filming schedule this week for Benton and myself (some scenes don't require the cast because it is just of objects / scenery). (1.5 hours) 1:00-4:00 I finished editing all the footage I have thus far to prep for my meeting with my project advisor to show her what I have done. (3 hours) Hours for day: 5 Hours |

(1.5 hours) Hours for Day: 5 Hours |

(2.5 hours) 2:00-3:00 I met with Mr. Peebles about my project and the personal connection I have and how I plan to present my take away of the project in my final presentations in front of both the faculty and in front of the student body. (1 hour) Hours for Day: 6 Hours |
Fri, Apr 22
| 10:00-12:00 Filming of the note scene and the phone scene. (2 hours) 12:30-2:30 Put the new clips on my computer and edited them. Decided I wanted to change the way the film ends because currently it ends in a rather depressing manor so I decided I want to reverse the ending so that it shows he decides life is worth living. (2 hours) 2:30-3:00 Reached out to my little sisters friend, Ava, to schedule when I can film her next week because my scene with her is the last scene I need to shoot. WEEKEND/MAKE-UP HOURS?
Sat, April 23
8:30-10:30 I continued editing the new footage from this week. (2 hours)
11:00-2:30 Worked on reversing the frames of the death scene to show that it was all an illusion of the main character which is really difficult to try and create so I watched some videos on the internet where there are day dream type scenes to learn how I can use special effects and reverse to replicate that. (3.5 hours)
Hours for day: 5.5 Hours
Sun, April 24
9:00-12:30 Today I worked with audio because I have spent very little time on audio for the film. I worked on sounds and how it can create a mood and how it needs to change when the death is put in reverse so I played around with sound effects on iMovie as well as piano music I have written for the movie on my keyboard. (3.5 hours)
